Practice Areas - Mr. Howansky is a litigation partner handling matters in State and Federal Court.  Mr. Howansky specializes in handling insurance coverage disputes and appellate matters, as well as defense of construction accident, premises liability, products liability, toxic tort and general negligence matters.

 Bar Admissions - Mr. Howansky is a member of the New York and Connecticut State Bars as well as U.S. District Court, Southern and Eastern Districts.

Biography - Mr. Howansky was born in Yonkers, New York.  In May 1994, he graduated  with honors from New York University with a double major in piano performance and economics.  Thereafter, Mr. Howansky earned his J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law in May 1997.  While at Hofstra University School of Law, Mr. Howansky served as an Articles Editor for the Hofstra Law Review.  Mr. Howansky's previous employment was with the Manhattan firm of Ohrenstein & Brown, LLP, where he was engaged in both complex general liability and commercial litigation.   While at Ohrenstein & Brown, Mr. Howansky authored numerous coverage opinions involving general liability, pollution and excess insurance policies.  In October 2001, Mr. Howansky conducted a CLE-accredited lecture on recent developments in the New York State No-Fault Law.

Bar Activities & Publications
Mr. Howansky was a panelist at the 2011 Association of General Contractors New York Chapter's 2011 Annual Construction Industry Conference addressing risk management and safety issues for management, supervisors and formen working at a construction site.

Mr. Howansky lectured at the 2010 NYSBA-sponsored program, “Law School for Claims Professionals 2010”, on the topic “Legal Procedures and Their Impact on the Claims Process”. He lectured in September, 2008, at the NYSBA sponsored program, “Law School for Insurance Professionals 2008”, on the topic, “Additional Insured Issues”, and authored a chapter, “ Common Policy  Endorsements and Language”, for the program materials. Mr. Howansky also authored the 2007 update and supplement to “Construction Site Personal Injury Litigation”, New York Labor Law §200, 240(1), 240(6), Chapter on “Risk Transfer Theories of Recovery and Defenses.” He also published an article in the NYSBA's Tort, Insurance & Compensation Journal (Summer 2004) (republished Summer 2006) on additional insured coverage in construction litigation and has lectured in various forums on insurance coverage matters.  Mr. Howansky is affiliated with the New York State Bar Association and the Defense Research Institute.  Mr. Howansky joined  the firm in July, 2003 and became a partner on January 1, 2005.
